Foam:

We use only high-density foam in all our cushion replacements. It comes in soft, medium, and firm wit varying thicknesses. We always wrap our foam in Dacron; a soft spongy batting to prevent the cushion from having that "flat" look to it.

Down/feather

The option to use all down/feather, or any combination of foam and down is an option. Although 100% down/feather is expensive and requires "puffing up", the combination foam base with down/feather wrap is a good alternative.

Down-like

The alternative to using expensive down/feather is to use soft foam wrapped in multiple layers of dacron. The cushion will soft and plush without the expense of using actual down/feather. The soft foam base will give the cushion stability, holding its shape, while the layers of Dacron will lend itself to a similar look and feel of down/feather.

Window seat cushions

We will custom make a cushion for any size or shape window seat. Common thicknesses are 2-3 inch but up to 5 inch is possible depending on clearance.

Throw pillows

Simple or elaborate throws can be made in a variety of sizes. From simple squares to more decorative trim detail, throws are perfect accent pieces to help finish off that new slipcovered sofa.

Detaching the Back Cushion

So why would we want to detach a back cushion from the furniture? The only time this should be considered is when the upholstered look is desired. With this look the slipcover must fit snug and fitted to the furniture. The plain truth is furniture with back cushions that are attached do NOT make up well in the upholstered looking style slipcover. Most people can tell it's a slipcover because the slipcover can not be made to mimic the intricate details of furniture with attached backs.

So to solve the problem we can - without the furniture leaving the home - detach the back cushions, add Dacron if necessary to puff them up, and make the furniture into one with separate back cushions. Now with individually covered back cushions, the upholstered-like slipcover will take on the desired look.

Not all attached back cushions can be removed. Some should be left alone. There are some ways to tell if the furniture is a candidate for this procedure.

  1. The attached back cushions do not have any buttons on them.

  2. The seat cushion sits partially underneath the back cushion.

If both of these conditions exist, then odds are the back cushions can be removed with no hassles.

Drawback: Once the back cushions are removed, the original furniture cannot be used without the slipcover because the insides (guts) of                    the furniture may now be visible. In other words, the area where the back cushions use to be attached will look unsightly. This                      is all now hidden of course with the slipcover installed.

Furniture Cushions

With all furniture, what we sit on (seat and back cushion) is critically important to comfort. Perhaps they are too soft, deflated, no longer keeping their shape. If so replacing their insides becomes an option. Therefore we separate cushions into three categories:
